Bamboo toothbrush, comb of straw and PP in white-grey and razor with bamboo handle on light oak

Bamboo, straw and corn starch:
what the handles are made of

Three materials, one principle: the material is stated on the item

A guest item consists of handle, head and wrapper, and each part can be made of something else. This guide names, for the Green lines, what handles, stems and wrappers are made of, where a plastic still sits and in what share, so that the choice between two versions is made with open cards.

THREE HANDLES

Bamboo, straw with PP, corn starch with PP

Toothbrush and razor each come in two versions, the comb in three. The difference lies in the handle.

Bamboo

wood throughout
  • Toothbrush approx. 18 cm, razor approx. 13 cm
  • Wooden comb, comb with handle, hairbrushes
  • Nail cleaner in the manicure set, cotton bud stem
  • Visible grain, every piece a little different

Straw with PP

35 per cent straw
  • Razor approx. 10 cm, comb 15.5 cm
  • 65 per cent PP, mottled white-grey
  • Lighter and smoother than bamboo
  • A plastic share that is stated on the item

Corn starch with PP

35 per cent corn starch
  • Toothbrush approx. 18 cm
  • 65 per cent PP, pale handle
  • Feels like a smooth plastic handle
  • The alternative to bamboo in the same sachet
THE OTHER PARTS

Heads, stems, wrappers, backs

The handle is not all that counts. What else is on the item is listed here part by part.

Cotton and paper

Cotton pads and cotton balls are cotton, as are the tips of the cotton buds. The stem is bamboo in Green Elegant and paper in Green Classic. Tissues are two-ply cellulose, the shoe shine mitt a cotton blend, the sleep mask without set is cotton, padded inside.

PLA

PLA is made from corn starch and is a plastic. It is white and translucent, feels softer than film and does not belong in the waste paper. Green Elegant uses it only where a cap or a bag has to be watertight, Green Classic also as the wrapper around every item.

Origin: Both lines are made in China. That is stated as a property on every item in the portal, as is the material.

THE CHOICE

What that means for the choice

Three questions are enough to get from three handles to one.

Should the material be seen?

Bamboo is seen: grain, warm colour, every piece a little different. The blended handles are uniform, pale and smooth, they do not stand out on the tray. Those who want to make the material the subject take bamboo.

How much plastic may there be?

As little as possible: bamboo handles, wooden comb, manicure set, sewing kit, cotton buds with bamboo stem, sleep mask of cotton. The loofah sponge has a back of polycotton, the hairbrushes a bristle pad of TPE; that cannot be replaced at present and is stated on the item.

How many guests open the item?

With sets that almost every guest opens, the material counts most, and those are dental kit and vanity kit. With sets handed out on request, the handle in the guest's hand decides rather than the share in the case.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about the material

What buyers ask about bamboo, straw and corn starch.

Does a bamboo handle splinter when it gets wet?+
No. Bamboo is a dense wood, the handles are sanded smooth and tolerate tooth brushing and shaving. What harms it is lying in water for days, and that does not happen with a guest item.
Why does a handle of straw or corn starch say 35 per cent and not more?+
Because the rest is PP, which gives the handle shape and hold. A handle entirely of straw or starch would be brittle. We state the share on the item so that nobody expects a wooden handle.
Does the guest feel the difference between bamboo and the blended handle?+
Yes, at once. Bamboo is warmer and has a surface you can feel, the blended handle is smooth and light. Which feel suits the house is best decided by a sample pack containing both.
Are the bristles of the toothbrush made of bamboo?+
No, the handle is bamboo, the bristles are not. Which bristles they are is stated on the item. A head entirely of plant fibre does not exist for toothbrushes, and that applies to all suppliers.
Is loofah a sponge or a plant?+
A plant, the dried fruit of a gourd. The sponge of the Green range has polycotton on the back and a strap for the hand; the scrubbing side is pure loofah.
